The Compassionate Heart vision was founded by its Executive Director, Donna Bunce. Donna’s first child was diagnosed cognitively impaired and mildly autistic in 1997 when he was 5 years old. Feeling overwhelmed with grief, loss and hopelessness, Donna prayed that God would give her the strength, wisdom and patience to persevere. As she watched her son grow into a teenager, he began to struggle even more with the lack of friendships, relationships and social opportunities. She dreamed and prayed for a place where he and others with disabilities could find friends, acceptance and a place to just have fun. In 2006, God answered that prayer and fulfilled that dream by leading her to create and establish such a place and it is Compassionate Heart Ministries. Since that time, hundreds of families with children (ages 14-45) with mild to moderate disabilities have found a home and a family of support at Compassionate Heart Ministries! Welcome!
